A Matter of Fact
Battlefield, a district in the south side of Glasgow, gets its name from the Battle of Langside, fought nearby in 1568.
This battle was a significant conflict between the forces of Mary, Queen of Scots, and those of her half-brother, James Stewart, Earl of Moray. The battle marked the end of Mary’s attempt to regain the Scottish throne. Today, the area is known for its historical significance and the nearby Queen’s Park, which offers panoramic views of the city.
