A Crosshouse History

Crosshouse is a welcoming East Ayrshire village with strong community roots, just a few minutes from Kilmarnock.

Originally built around the coal and iron industries in the 19th century, the village grew at the crossroads of the old Kilmarnock–Irvine road and later developed with its own railway station. Today, Crosshouse blends its industrial heritage with modern amenities, including University Hospital Crosshouse, excellent local schools, and easy transport links to Glasgow and the Ayrshire coast. With a population of around 2,700, it offers a friendly, well-connected base that combines village charm with convenience.

The Australian Connection

Andrew Fisher, who was born in Crosshouse in 1862, went on to become Prime Minister of Australia three times (1908–1909, 1910–1913, and 1914–1915). He grew up in a miner’s row in the village before emigrating, and his working-class upbringing shaped much of his politics. There’s even a commemorative cairn in Crosshouse honouring him.

If minus was an option you would get it! Anyone thats applied 5 star is from your employees. No one in their right mind gives this cowboy outfit a 5 star. You have been the worst company I have ever dealt with. 2 weeks for a reply, 1word answers. I turned up to a viewing and the man in the white car waved at me driving away, laughing. I was there to view the property, why is he driving away I travelled from Greenock and met with a horrible and purely unprofessional company.
